It was a quiet morning in the apartment, even though I was awake by 7:30am. I unpacked my bags fully and took some time to admire the city of Rhodes in the daylight. I was too eager to get out there and tackle the city, but we decided to relax for our evening meal out.
There are only two choices when leaving the Homebush Bay area and they are either by the ferry which was a 1.7km walk or the train of hell, a 2.1km walk - unless you're lucky to have a car of your own.
You know it, we took the ferry over to Pyrmont wharf, where we walked to the Harbourside shopping centre. How cool are the information boards in Sydney - they are touch screen to find whatever you want in the mall! Here, we had a booking (a Scoopon deal - highly recommended) to the restaurant, Kamikaze Teppanyaki to watch the talented chefs perform their artistic cooking skills.
I enjoyed my very first two cocktails (Twisted Toblerone and Lychee Martini) and pretty much flew back to the apartment. I'm an extremely cheap drunk! The food was yum and plentiful - so much that I required a doggy bag even though I had barely eaten early in the day. I would recommend this restaurant and if I ever find myself back in Sydney, I will definitely dine there again!
It was a beautiful night and we were finished early enough to be able to catch the ferry back. I was very taken with riding the harbour. Although the harbour breeze at the front of the ferry was on the cool side for me, I wasn't giving that position up for anything. Besides, there was a rather nice looking guy (with an intoxicating aroma) standing nearby, who kept checking me out....hehehe. If the Japanese dinner hadn't been loaded with garlic, I might have chatted him up....... I did have alcohol in my system!
By the time we had walked half the way back to the apartment from the wharf, my sandals were killing my feet with blisters on my toes. I guess the alcohol numbed me for the most part - that was until the little blisters had burst and I was no longer able to keep my shoes on. Probably a silly move walking along a dirty road with open wounds, but I wasn't in a state to care about that at the time...lol.
Other than my sore feet, it was a fantastic evening out and an awesome taste of Sydney!!
